« Parfois, Guillaume Bottazzi délaisse la toile de lin pour un textile plus doux, soyeux même, tendu à l’extrême et dont la teinte rouge lui sert de fond. Comme Matisse, il a compris que la texture d’un tissu avait cette capacité de rayonner tout en induisant l’impression d’un espace infini. […] Bottazzi va déposer des traces de teintes, blanches souvent, pâles toujours comme si l’essentiel était bien de garder le souffle du geste. Mais il n’est pas calligraphe. Sa main gère davantage une caresse qu’un mouvement. […] Parfois, la blancheur est obtenue par l’effleurement de plâtre léger. Parfois d’une couleur à l’huile qui se dépose en glacis. »
